What every employer should know?
Regulation 3 requires every employer or self-employed person to identify if asbestos is present in the workplace. If no asbestos was identified a competent person has to issue an asbestos-free status to the workplace. This is in the form of a letter stating that no asbestos was found.
If asbestos was found, Regulation 4 requires that all the asbestos-containing material must be entered into a register
All the asbestos-containing material that was found must be assessed to determine the risk of exposure. The HSG 248 standard must used as guideline
