New Asbestos Abatement Regulations was approved and implemented in Nov 2020
Type 1
Small projects up to 10m² and painting of asbestos roofs where no cleaning is necessary. No need to register with the Department of Labour but notice of 7 days must be given to the Department
Type 2
Asbestos contractor will be allowed to remove asbestos containing materials such as roof sheets, insulation boards. The type 2 contractor must be registered with the Department of Labour and must notify the Department 7 days in advance of any asbestos work to be done.
Type 3
This type of contractor can handle any asbestos and must notify the Department 7 days in advance of any asbestos work to be done
